Welcome Sigi!

The Emerald City Supporters welcome Seattle Sounders FC’s first head coach.
On Tuesday evening, SSFC fans finally got to meet their long anticipated head coach. Meeting at FX McRory’s, a casual bar fit for a meeting of soccer fans, Seattle’s beloved Kevin Calabro introduced Sigi Schmid to the fans. Sigi Schmid has been a champion at UCLA, LA, and Columbus and we feel he is a great choice to lead the Rave Green Army out of the starting gates. Christmas has come early in Seattle, and the ECS looks forward to supporting the Sounders from the Brougham End of Qwest Field in 2009.
After introductory speeches from Kevin, Adrian, and Sigi, the mic was opened up to questions from fans. One question came from ECS member and SSFC Councilman Greg Mockos (aka Fuzzy Foreigner), asking about Sigi’s relations with supporter groups. Sigi responded that supporters are important to the team and he hopes to help grow supporter groups, be they ECS or new groups, like the great growth Columbus Crew supporter groups Crew Union, Hudson Street Hooligans, and Turbina Amarilla saw in the Nordecke this year; hoping to create a united and festive Brougham End.
The ECS scarfed Coach Schmid and we hope he feels more comfortable in Rave and Blue than a tie, as his normal game day attire is more like a supporter than businessman.

ECS member Robby Branom (who is running for the Membership Council) has his picture taken with Sigi and his new ECS scarf.
Just imagine in a mere 92 days we will all be at Qwest singing:
Sigi Schmid’s Rave Green Army!
Sigi Schmid’s Rave Green Army!
Sigi Schmid’s Rave Green Army!
