As many ECS members were enjoying themselves at the Hawk’s Nest for Saturday’s membership drive another ECS member was enduring a horrific tragedy. Scott Buschen, an ECS member who plays for ECS FC and is a diehard Sounders Supporter, was working in his father’s shop in Fall City when a fire broke out. Not much is currently known as to how the fire started but it quickly was out of control.
What is known is that in the aftermath of the fire Buschen was badly burned over 20% of his body and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. As of yesterday he is in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Harborview in Seattle. His best friend, Evan Lamon, was able to say hello and talk with him for a couple of minutes while he was in and out of sleep. Doctor’s estimate Buschen will be in the ICU for about three weeks. There will be an assessment of the burns on Tuesday and possibly the first surgery.
After the stay in ICU, Buschen will move to another area of the hospital for possibly up to three months. It is expected he will make a full recovery but with physical therapy it will be probably a year or more before ECS FC sees their number 12 on the field. For those who want to see him, we believe it would be best if you can wait till he is out of ICU.
To help Scott and his family we will set up donation collections at all ECS events. We will have a separate, trackable manner so that all money donated to the Buchens will be transparent. If there are any accountants out there who wish to help please contact us. Also, before all the home games Lamon will be collecting money for the family.
The shop Scott and his dad work at sustained a bit of damage and the medical bills are going to be up there. We know times are tough right now but anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much and pray that Scott has a speedy recovery.
