Refer Your Buddy, Get ECS Some $$

Funny wording aside – mentioning ECS when you buy your season tickets helps us to fund game day activities such as our overhead and rail banners, flags and two-poles.

Back in September of 2008 Sounders FC instituted a referral program with two goals in mind: pack the general admission sections in the stadium and helping supporters groups to flourish. While it makes sense for the club to want to pack its stadium one question may remain: why should it support the supporters?

That is actually a very good question that Dave Clark at SounderAtHeart answered in his story “For the Fans and For the Players Supporter’s Groups Matter.” For the story Clark quotes ECS co-leader Keith Hodo about why clubs should invest in supporters:

We’re in a very interesting position with Sounders FC and the aspirations of the team. I think all of us that support the team believe our ownership when they say that they want to be world class and be successful in a short period. Part of being successful means investing in your fans, that and we need money to create the overhead displays and banners. One of the coolest things that we talked with the club about was the idea of a referral program which helps us grow along with the club. Ultimately it costs the club very little to help us and the club gets the passionate fans which help make the game day that much more special.

In short, it takes money to create the flags, banners and two-poles we create – and lots of it. Mentioning the ECS when you buy your tickets helps subsidize the cost of these projects so that we don’t need to rely on our members – who already are donating their valuable time to create the displays – to also pay as much for what they create.

When you mention ECS (and Greg Mockos as we’re trying to win the authentic jersey to give away at one of our future events) when you buy your season tickets this is what we get:

• Top seller overall (minimum of 10 season tickets sold) will receive a pair of season tickets plus a authentic jersey.

• Each member who sells a minimum of 10 season tickets will receive a replica jersey.

• If your supporters group sells 100 season tickets, they will receive 10 tickets to a mutually agreed upon regular season match.

• For every referred season ticket purchased we will return 3% of the purchase price back to your supporters group in order to purchase materials for use on match day.
