SSFC Host Feckless Crew

Sounders FC now have four draws on the trot in MLS. Sigi and Brad Evans former club, Columbus Crew, represent our next opportunity to capture three points. Photo by: Rob Scott.
With last weekend’s draw at Colorado Sounders FC find themselves undefeated in five straight matches. They are still second in MLS West, however the club has only captured seven points out of a possible fifteen and the season is now one-third over. The streak is certainly impressive, hell not losing is awesome, but the Sounders need to find a way to reach deep when on the road and capture three points. There is no excuse to get the early lead twice only to leave points on the table in three straight weeks (counting the home draw to the Galaxatives).
Interestingly the much-criticized Seattle front line returned to their early season form with both Montero notching a goal and assist and Jaqua scoring. The goals represented the strike partnership’s first since Real Salt Lake on March 28th when, ironically, both scored.
This week supporters should turn their focus to the FC’s decimated midfield. With Alonso’s 1st minute hamstring tweak he and Brad Evans are looking doubtful for this Saturday’s match. Hopefully Freddie Ljungberg can return and force either Pete Vagenas or Stephen King to the bench as neither were impressive against Colorado. If Freddie can indeed return look for a midfield four consisting of Zakuani, Ljungberg, Vagenas/King/Patrick Ianni and Le Toux.
Between now and Saturday, roughly 52.5 hours until pre-match, Sounders FC have a match against the cRapids in the US Open Cup. That match is in roughly six hours and should be excellent. Remember, last time Sounders took on cRapids in the Open Cup it was a 5:0 Sounders drubbing at Royal Brougham Park.
About that party. The game is thankfully in the evening so supporters will not have to worry about getting drunk before noon again. The pubs will be the usual suspects. Fuel for the over-21 crowd and McCoy’s for those not yet deemed old enough to drink by our lovely government.
