The Beginning

“You should be very proud when the TV broadcasters twice said this was like a European game….” said Gary Wright, Sr. VP of Business Operations.
March 19, 2009 Changed the American Soccer landscape forever. What also changed was the Seattle and MLS soccer landscape. Expressions such as “The bar has been raised” and “A lifting tide lifts all boats” have been used over and over again by media and league officials alike.
But on March 19, 2009, The Emerald City Supporters, the largest Sounders FC supporter group, was also present in full force and, on its first outing, provided MLS with one of the biggest displays in league history. The ECS hopes that all of you that attended the match never forget this day and never forget your experience with ECS on the south terrace, THE BROUGHAM END.
If you are new, or liked what you saw, please join our ranks as tifo displays such as those require time and effort. See http://www.weareecs.com/join-us/. The ECS is thankful for all your support. Register in our forums and join the discussion and help steer this organization. Additional coverage of the ECS can be found:

Now the time is ours. We must grow and you, as an ECS member must recruit for us amongst your friends. Join the supporter culture in seattle and join the ranks of ECS. It is only by becoming bigger and better that we can chant on our boys on the pitch. That is because, on Thursday the 12th man was essential in the outcome of the match and for that reason the players came to our end to salute us!
This is a great start to the season, and a memorable start for the ECS. SUPPORT US, SUPPORT THE SOUDNERS.
GO SOUNDERS!!! TAKE ‘EM ALL!
Further, Gary Wright had this to say:
“WOW !!! Wow and triple wow……you guys were just incredible…..nobody could have asked for more….it was so much fun and you guys made it so….
You should be very proud when the TV broadcasters twice said this was like a European game….and Harkes talked about raising the scarves like at Liverpool….
Even Freddie Ljungberg told me he got goose bumps…..you probably heard by Brad Evans remarked to Sigi after the game that they were going to have to try and come up with hand signals because it was so loud…..
All great….absolutely great and I loved your artwork … I loved everything you did.
Thanks so much…..please convey to your members our thoughts….and I am sure you noticed Sigi’s scarf.”
See you on the terraces,
Keef
