02.19.2010: In Rememberance of Jay Glyer

On January 29th ECS award-maker Jonathan Glyer passed away in a freak accident in his machine shop. This Friday night from 8pm we invite all to come out to Fuel and hoist a glass to his memory.

On January 29th the ECS family was hit with the very tragic news that our resident award maker Jonathan Glyer was involved in a accident while working in his shop in Ballard. The news came suddenly and spread quickly as his pal Dustin Harris broke the news to us via our message boards.

The next night was the ECS off-season party. It was decided by Jon’s wife that the party must go on and the awards that he had designed and made were handed out.

Jon was only in ECS for a short time but quickly his passion for life and football melded into one. He worked with Reid Shaffer to design a piece for Fuel which was dedicated on October 29th before the first leg of the Houston playoff series. He also designed the 2009 ECS Player of the Year award (shown above) which was given to Kasey Keller.

Join us Friday night as we commiserate about the short time we knew Jon. We’ll have a special on Manny’s Pale Ale from Georgetown Brewery with the proceeds going to either Jon’s wife Sarah or to their church. Please come and pay your respects to Jon’s wife and family that shows, ECS style!
