Put on your flippie-floppies and bring your inflatable dolphin! ECS is heading to Bremerton for an away viewing with West Sound Armada!

Hosted by Emerald City Supporters and West Sound Armada

Bremerton: Cloverleaf Sports Bar & Grill, 1240 Hollis Street Bremerton, WA 98310

Live Thursday, August 19th, 2010 Kickoff at 19:00

The Ferry:
Take the Seattle – Bremerton ferry departing from Colemon Dock. Seattle waterfront right across from Yesler Way / Pioneer Square.
The Ferry runs about every 70-80 minutes all day long. The crossing takes almost exactly 1 hour.
Schedule can be found here: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule/
Note: Money can be saved if you drive around over the narrows bridge instead of take the boat, but you miss out on a great scenic boat ride (and beer).

The Fares:
Vehicle and Driver: $14.85 (collected both ways)
Motorcycle and Driver: $6.45 (collected both ways)
Passenger or Walk-on: $6.90 (collected in Seattle only)
Bicycle Surcharge: $1.00 (collected in Seattle only)

Sailings:
Take the 3:00pm ferry from Coleman Dock in downtown Seattle to get to Bremerton in time for the match

Take either the 7:55pm, 9:00pm or 11:40pm sailings to get back to Seattle.

The Directions:
From the ferry dock:
1.) Exit the dock thru the by-pass tunnel. This is the only way out of the dock area.
2.) Continue straight to the top of the hill and make a right on Warren Ave.
3.) Continue on Warren past Olympic College and across the Warren Ave Bridge to East Bremerton.
4.) Warren becomes Wheaton Way / Hwy 303…keep going.
5.) Turn right at Hollis Street. Bar is on the left. (Behind closed mini-mart / in front of closed K-Mart…hey, it’s a small town with a Wal-Mart, ok.)
From south (you drove around and over the narrows bridge)
1.) From I-5 take 16 west toward Bremerton (kinda near the tacoma dome)
2.) Cross the narrows bridge.
3.) Take 16 to Bremerton and follow signs for Bremerton.
4.) Take 3 North toward Bremerton/Poulsbo.
5.) Go right at the fork onto WA-304 toward Bremerton.
5.) Follow signs for Bremerton Ferry and look for Warren Ave.
6.) Take left on Warren and use the directions above.

The Beer & Food:
1.) 21 beers on tap. Owner is going to try to get a keg of bitter for this event.
2.) DO NOT eat prior to getting to the bar. You want to eat Cloverleaf food…it’s killer.

Freddie “I love Seattle” Ljungberg returns to Royal Brougham Park in what could be a “six-point” game come the end of the season.

Despite the defeat in the Champions League our league undefeated streak is still in tact.

Freddie’s return seems a bit ironic to those who are observant. If you look at the ticket for Saturday’s match you’ll see a very familiar face. Coincidence? Who knows. The important thing is we can get a leg up on Chicago by defeating them and effectively put some distance between us and them in the playoff race.

This game will surely be one not to miss!

Game Day Notes:

The merchandise table hours will be from 16:00 to 15 minutes before march to the match (that’s 19:15). Please bring any guest by and get them hooked up with a scarf, t-shirt and 2010 ECS membership for $30. That’s a $5 savings by buying it in person versus through our store online!

You can also pre-pay online we can have you pick up your membership kit in the stadium. Just stop by the ECS table behind 122 to pick up your gear (must pre-pay through the ECS store, select the option “pickup at Fuel” and add a note that you would like to pickup at our table in the Brougham End). Please stop by and pick up song sheets and introduce any guest you may have with you to influential ECS members! Remember, only you can help to spread songs and chants throughout the Brougham End. However, the ECS information table can help!

If your friends aren’t quite up for joining please bring them by the table anyways and get them a song sheet! We print up around a thousand per match for you. Please help to make the experience go from great to truly phenomenal!

“As a club, we want to go as far as we can in every competition we enter and we view it as an honor and we view it as a privilege, not as a burden,” Sigi Schmid on the club’s CCL ambitions.

The impressive league run of four wins on the trot may be broken. However, Sounders FC’s historic foray into international competition continues this Thursday as the face the 2009 Honduran (Apertura) Champions C.D. Marathón. Be there for the 7pm PT kickoff as the boys hope to extend the unbeaten streak to 10 matches!

Marathón hail from San Pedtro Sula in the northwest corner of the country. The match will be played Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano, site of the U.S. National Team’s World Cup clinching victory against Honduras on October 10, 2009 via a Landon Donovan goal.

Having lost their two top goal scorers from the Apertura (Jerry Palacios and Mitchel Brown) to Chinese club teams, Marathón feature their lone World Cup squad representative, Walter Martinez, at Forward.

Sounders FC are playing in what many are calling “The Group of Death” or “Grupo de la Muerte” with C.F. Monterrey of Mexico and Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica, the top 2 teams of Group C qualify for the quarterfinals after the 6 home and home games have been completed.

The new ECS podcast, “The Sweatshop” is off and running. Last week’s debut show saw 803 live viewers and numerous have peeped out the 3 part recording. Now it’s time get it going and start making things official.

The next episode airs LIVE, as always, this Monday, August 16th at 7pm on the ECS Stickam page, http://www.stickam.com/weareecs. If you haven’t done so, get there early, sign up, plug in your webcam and join us for what proves to be crazy show. You can also go to the “PODCAST” page under “NEWS” by using the top navigation bar where the Stickam feed is embedded. This show’s special guest, and coincidentally the first special guest ever, is none other than BULLDOG. You all know him, some fear him, some don’t know what to make of him. But he doesn’t give a shit and that’s why we love him. This is a definite “don’t miss” show just for the potential stories we might hear from his earlier days as a Leeds supporter on the terraces of Elland Road.

“For those who come and those who go, it’s just a pride to defend the shield of the Sounders,” Fredy Montero.

The Sounders are headed down to LA yet again to play the goats. Last year we lost twice in the HDC to a Chivas team that finished 4th in the Western Conference (two points behind SSFC). This year we play the first of three games (two regular season and one USOC [tickets still available here http://www.weareecs.com/shop/]) against a Chivas team that props up the Western Conference and baring any miracles are well out of the play off hunt.

The boys come into the game on a 4 game winning streak in MLS and 8 an game undefeated run in all competitions. We are a hot team right now with Montero scoring at will, El Flaco proving to be the pickup of the year, and Nkufo hungry for a goal. However, as we learned at SJ last year under similar circumstances, we cannot take any team for granted. While we seem to have recovered from that abysmal start we still need all the points we can get and some points on the road will not do our chances any harm. So come on out and cheer on the the boys as they look to continue their winning ways.

The playoff race is heating up! Join ECS in supporting the Sounders as we seek three points nd revenge for knocking us out of last year’s MLS Cup Playoffs!

Seattle wins when it matters. It’s what we do.

Right now we’re hotter than Mojave. A win Sunday against the Dynamo will put us in a very good position going into the final third of the season. Houston, while still a dangerous side, has been adrift in the league over the past month. With three draws and a loss in July it’s fair to say it wasn’t their best month of football.

Houston is led by Brad Davis who has four goals and six assists in 17 games. Former USMNT player Brian Ching has been having a subpar 2010 and has netted only three goals. The club is still rife with talent but the loss of Stuart Holden and Ricardo Clark on free transfers has definitely hurt the club in the standings.

Be sure to be there Sunday and be loud.

Game Day Notes:

The merchandise table hours will be from 16:00 to 15 minutes before march to the match (that’s 18:45).
