Sounders "Build A Bonfire" patch

General ECS talk.

Unread postby JustNS » Sat Jan 4, 2014 5:29:13 pm

This is my first post on this forum so hello to everyone on the board! I've been a Sounders fan for the past 3 seasons, live up in Ballard, and enjoy a good glass of scotch or bourbon. Anyway, I've had this idea for awhile and just recently decided to try and bring it to life. I decided I would try and do a group buy if there's enough interest. Here's a link to a thread I posted on reddit.com with the details about it http://www.reddit.com/r/SoundersFC/comm ... ch_update/. If your interested let me know. The more folks that want a patch the cheaper it gets for everyone. Any questions, comments or input feel free to post them. I'm going to see what I can do about getting the Vancouver and Portland logos put into the patch to avoid having to order and sew them on separately.

Hey. Sorry I haven't emailed you back yet. This is definitely a great way to network with people to bring down your price.

I see that you and Czr are in communication. What is the size of this at the $40 price point that is being discussed? How many pieces are being produced at this rate? Have you considered making extra pieces to have for sale on the Cascadia away buses? I particularly have started to collected patches for travel, so this is my intention.

I'm interested depending on the price for a patch.

Also, in your image, it appears you are making the sample piece 9.5" X 7". What would the price be if it were 4-5" tall? That is one MFing HUGE patch!

I just looked at http://netpropatches.com/CustomEmbroideredPatch.php and it seems you can reasonably get it for $4.80 at 5" tall, if you do it on a standard size (I selected #3). After simple add-ons, you'd think you could easily write in "Timbers" at the top and then "Whitecaps" in the middle and convey the message quite well, and still get it under $10, especially since they don't seem to bump price for additional colors. That way you don't have the up-charge for the special shape. Hope I'm not messing up your mojo, but it seems valid stuff to consider.

There wasn't really a reason for it being so big except that I wanted people to notice it and know exactly what it stood for right away. I'm not against taking down the size at all. Your the only person whos actually given any ideas/ criticism on the design. I appreciate it. With the current custom shape for 12 pieces it is $24.85 per patch and adding in the team names would not affect the price. I sent an e mail with some new ideas to youpatches.com. In a couple days i hope to get a new design and we'll go from there. Thanks for the input!

VOTE PLEASE:
If you were to want a "Build a Bonfire" patch, how big would you want it?
1: 9"
2: 7"
3: 5"
4: 3"

We're considering a lot of variables in producing these and want to make it right for the most people.
[llarian: I'm sure you'll see this, and I don't know how to insert a poll mid-stream like was done on the SJO away thread]

We'll have two options available for pre-order in the next couple of days, for any one interested.

Patches are available for pickup tomorrow. I have a list of prepay, buy now is $5. I'll be at McCoy's in the 11:00 hour, tomorrow. You will see me at the membership table, but that will be the only time you can't pickup.
