No More Section Wristbands?

General ECS talk.

Unread postby DicemanSTL » Mon Feb 12, 2018 11:08:57 am

I just got my season opener email from my STH rep and it mentioned that GA will not be requiring wristbands this season. Is this accurate for every game? Will they be in effect for the guaranteed high demand games (such as the derbies)?

I guess there hasn't really been too much of an issue with access the past few years, I'm just curious if this had been a planned thing and if it is all season.

Thanks!

We've been working to get this rolled back ever since they implemented it. They are finally willing to give it a try. My hope is that it goes all season. We shall see.

The new policy was at the request of the ECS, any specific reason why?

It might be worth sending a quick heads-up email out to ECS members about the new change and its origin. Not knowing this was a request from ECS, I requested more details on the policy change from my ticket rep.

I can see the up side of not having the wrist bands will be more "visitors" (invited or otherwise) coming over from other sections to give supporting from 121-123 a try; wouldn't be surprised if they find out they really like it and try to get tickets in GA regularly ;)

Downside for sold out games is overcrowding and potential for ticket holder being refused entry into GA like is noted in the 2015 wrist band thread.

I should clarify. Every year they talk about the extra work to get wristbands on wrists. Every year, we say you could always end it. Except on a rare occasion everything was fine for 5 seasons.

This year, they implemented no wristbands in about the same fashion as 2015:
- When you have a moment, we want to talk about getting rid of wristbands.
- Okay, sure let's make some time to talk
- HEY EVERYBODY WRISTBANDS ARE GONE!! KTHNXBYEEEEEE

Yeah, I was just surprised by it, not particularly concerned. Sounds like it was kind of an unsurprising surprise all around :)

If there DO happen to be any issues with an inability to get a place to squeeze into our section - how is this handled? Will ECS security or stadium security be able to do anything really? How hard would policing an entire already packed section of drunks be?

also the question of will they then be checking tickets every time we go in/out? What if your phone dies? Now that we don't have physical cards which were easy to just keep in the ID section of a wallet and flash out, that is my concern. I do agree it was overkill and for 98% of the matches being able to creatively get into the section again will be nice, especially since all of the scalper accounts are gone now.

Rest assured, these questions and others have been asked and considered. We don’t have all of the answers right now and can’t promise issues won’t arise. However, we do see this as a positive for our section and we will be doing our best to make sure this works out.

Ultimately we want to make sure we fill the Brougham End with passionate supporters and ensure that ticket holders are never turned away. Please do provide feedback after matches to let us know of any issues encountered so we can improve entry and reentry to our section. These concerns will be passed along.

So I can buy a regular ticket for this Sundays match...and then proceed to the GA 121-123 section for the games, since there is no wristbands. ECS section tickets were all sold out...even on Seat Geek.

As long as you don't get there right at kick (or 5-10 minutes after like many lol) then even on crowded days you should be able to find a seat. I'm all for no wristbands and a packed section

picked up a ticket in 120....if there are open seats (after kick off)...ill make my way over there to 123. Your going to find this a lot during the season, if they do away with the wristbands. I can buy a nose bleed 300 area seats for $20, and then head down to where the fun is. I always buy ECS tickets through the website...but the LAFC game sold out quick.

Each of the Sub-Groups will be policing their area as well in their designated seating areas. Section 123 which is ASG & 253 has their member lists with them to verify. Everyone else sits in the available GA behind them. Same should hold true in 121 and 122.
