For your consideration and entertainment:
It COULD be chanted to the SpongeBob SquarePants theme but works if it's just shouted...

_timber_ joey_

Who wears a hardhat so he don’t knock his head?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Whose own sasquatch mother left him for dead?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Who plays with Makitas, made in Japan?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Who has to wear bibs cause he can’t hold up his pants?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Who rides the bus ‘cause he can’t pump his gas?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Who sits on a log and packs it right in his…

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

Who rolls in the muck while he plays with his wood?

TIM-BER JO-EY!!!

WHO FEARS THE SOUNDERS AND KNOWS DAMN WELL HE SHOULD?!!!

TIM-BER JOEY!!!

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum. I was prompted to join to share a chant/anthem I came up with after being inspired by Branden Steineckert's RSL anthem. Here's my idea for a SSFC anthem:

"Sounders, our FC"
(to the tune of "Can You Hear The People Sing?" from Les Miserables)

Can you hear Seattle sing,
Singing for Sounders, our FC?
It is the music of a people
with unrivaled loyalty

You can hear us in the streets
supporting our boys at every turn,
with a fire in our hearts
that will always burn!

(repeat)

In case you're not familiar with the original song:

Slight edit after some external input:

"Do you hear Seattle sing,
Singing for Sounders, our FC?
It is the music of supporters
with unrivaled loyalty

You can hear us in the streets
cheering our boys at every turn,
with a fire in our hearts
that will always burn!"

You might want to speed that up a bit.....it's a little soft n slow. I try to always look past the actual videos people post and listen to to tune, but I can't get past that guys facial expressions lol. Not bad.

there's been a couple sugestions for this tune, and IMO it is such a powerful piece (even a little slower) that i think it would be great to incorporate.

How about this,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsJOhBj_z4Q

Come one you boys in green

Sung to the tune of those were the days by Mary Hopkin

And

To the tune of Jeremy by Pearl Jam

Galaxy were outclassed Today!!!

and

To the tune of Walking in a winter wonderland,

We're the sounders,
are you listening?
Gspurning through to Johnson
A beautiful sound from the CLink crowd
Jumping on a Portland Timbers fan.

Works for other team names too :)

To the tune of Don't Cry For Me, Argentina:

We love you, Seattle Sounders
The truth is that we'll never leave you
Through all the hard times, and all the trophies,
We'll never leave you

We used to do this several years ago. Never in the MLS era as far as I can remember. It is easy and could be picked up anytime if a capo wanted to.

Edelweiss -- to the tune of

How about a song for Michael Gspurning to honor his Austrian heritage, to be sung especially after great keeper play? Although the song itself is not Austrian (it was composed for the Sound of Music ), the flower is an alpine flower popular in Austria and worn on some Austrian army uniforms. Hopefully the tune is familiar to many and it is certainly associated with his homeland.

By the end of the you tube clip, you can hear a full chorus come in, gives a flavor of how it might sound.

Words:
Michael G, Michael G
You're an effing sensation
Michael G, Michael G
Best pair of hands in the nation

Michael Gspurning is number one
Number one forever
Michael G, Michael G
Bless our Sounders forever

Original words:

Edelweiss Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

I see what you're saying, however, I think Michael G, Michael G is preferable. It mirrors the first line repetition in the original so builds on familiarity with the song. It also scans/tracks better I think for easier singability.

Your comment prompts a thought though. On the B part first line "Michael Gspurning you're number one", I was assuming sounding the "G" to make it track in rhythm. To avoid that and still fit, it could be sung with the German pronunciation of Michael --- Mee -- ki -el

As folllows: Mee--ki--el 'Spurning you're number one

He might enjoy the effort to get his name right, but could be hard to teach, get people to adopt.

The Honey Badger's Got Necessities sung to the tune of The Bare Necessities

The Honey Badger's Got Necessities
Simple, Brutal, Necessities
He's Tearing Up the Pitch
He'll Start a Fight

He'll Chase You.. Down
To Make You Bleed
And on the Ground
You'll Roll and Plead

The Honey Badger's Necessities of Life

Look for the... Blood Spilled Easily
Red Card Ejections Seasonally
He's Yelling at the Ref
He'll Start a Fight

He'll Knock You.. Down
And Feel No Shame
And on the Ground
You'll Roll in Pain

The Honey Badger's Necessities (x2)
The Honey Badger's Necessities of Life

Thank you, F-90 Note: I have the verse for the song change, but I think it would prove too complex for a crowd to do.
