Disc Golf?

Talk about anything here.

Unread postby Zoomacroom » Tue Dec 17, 2013 12:06:31 pm

I've recently gotten into disc golf... my friend (new ECS member, I'll point him to this thread) got me playing more, gave me a set of handmedown discs.

I love the Lake Stevens course. Played Silver Lake a couple times. Played Lakewood last week for the first time ever... lost a disc to the lake on the first hole :(

I'm new to the ECS, but I play disc golf quite regularly and would love to get in a couple rounds and meet some other ECS members. Lake Stevens and Silver Lake are my closest courses but I make it down to Lakewood/SeaTac quite a bit as it is, so would be interested in meeting at pretty much whatever course this side of the Puget sound.

Saturday at the EOS Party, I was talking to one of the Refuge security people, apparently she used to work at Redhook and they sponsored a national tournament at the course behind Redhook. Not only didn't I know there was a course there, I can't find it on course reviews or anything. I see where it may be on Google Earth..... has anyone heard of a course there?

That's news to me, I've heard nothing about a course in there and can't find anything about it. I have to think that any course that has a national tournament or any tourney of any caliber/type for that matter should be really easy to find... But who knows, there definitely looks like there is land there that could support a course, and that would be kind of brilliant for a brewery to be next to and/or sponsor a course. Definitely might be worth investigating if ever out in that area, or hopefully someone else here knows more about it than I do.

How about we set a monthly date to play at North Sea Tac. Say the third Saturday of the month. We can adjust the start time to fit the Match times. And if it is an away game we can do viewing parties. This is just an idea, If you have a better one share it please.

I was on the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) website, just browsing around, and I noticed that they are now doing a league play system. I feel that we could do a small league of 5-10 players. The ECS league, It will be held over 13 weeks. Schedule could look like this:
Week 1&2: Work out rounds. Meet up with other players.
Week 3-12: Match weeks, typical lowest score wins
Week 13: Final round/End of Season BBQ
Is this something that any of you would be interested in? Should the league be ECS specific? Or open to non ECS members?

Informal count of 15 people that play and are following this thread.

If you are interested quote this sentence :D

If you are not interested quote this sentence

Great idea, but I'm not able to commit to a league. I'm more of a casual player that squeezes in a round when I can.

That is the true beauty in this, If you can make the league match great, if you can't that is just fine. Basically we are meeting on a "regular" basis, and playing. I believe that by doing this format we all can improve our play and become more involved with fellow ECS members.

Once again this is only an idea. Something to think about and ponder as the post season and off season move along.

I also love this idea. I don't actually disc golf or own a set of discs, but it's a great idea. I live right next to Silver Lake up in Everett and there's a nice little course at the park there that I pass by almost every day. I think it could work very nicely.

That is a nice course. I have played it once, and it is one course that I would suggest to play.On that note, I suggest that we nominate 6 courses to use for the league, If we say what courses we should play we can hack out a schedule, to work around the 2015 Sounders Schedule .

(Number of courses)
I suggest,
Fort Steilacoom (3)
Ambient (1)
Seatac (1) 27 Holes
Lakewood (1) 20 holes

Just got home from Steilly. Played Ambient yesterday. We usually play a couple rounds a week depending on what the weather is like
