Good luck for the Ft Lauderdale Strikers. Hopefully the community will embrace the team's NASL history.

Actually we should. If a Florida team does well they could easily be brought back into the MLS.

Florida (and the SE in general) does not have the best track record of supporting soccer post NASL.

Agree. FL is a tough sports market. Although Tampa Bay FC and Ralph's Mob are doing well compared to other SE teams in the past.

born and raised in Miami...

I really believe the Fusion died because they played in Ft. Lauderdale and not in Miami. The melting pot demographics of Miami proper would be a great place for an MLS side IF it was done right. If a team was properly located in the heart of Miami and ownership brought in players from the Caribbean and South America, I really think it would take off. You'd need an owner with deep pockets that wasn't worried about profit in the short term, but loved the game and wanted to grow it. They'd need to keep ticket prices low and cater to the working people. Therin lies the problem.

I wonder how well a pitch would fit into the configuration of the new Marlins ballpark. That thing is in the perfect location on the site of the old Orange Bowl.

Ft Lauderdale Strikers is shaping-up in the right direction by getting a jersey with retro colors and design from the original NASL era.

The Fusion didn't fail because they played in Ft. Lauderdale. They failed because they (and the league) mistakenly tried to market themselves as a Miami team, but didn't play in Miami. The original Ft. Lauderdale Strikers were very successful at drawing fans, because they didn't try to pretend to be something they weren't.
