This is a clever idea for semi-pro team to fund itself:
They got creative in the search for sponsorship dollars, too, when they couldn't find a major corporate backer. Instead of selling the team to one sponsor, they ended up selling individual players to many. So now they've got 25 local businesses sponsoring one or two each.

"So our striker is going to have Slows Bar BQ (on his jersey), and our center back is going to have PJ's Lager House and our rear midfield is going to have Honeybee Market," Wright laughed.

This could be fun assignment for a player to find 1 sponsor. As a result, the player would have a strong attachment to the club.

Hopefully Detroit gets an MLS team.
Detroit has Detroit City FC in the 4th division that is organic from the supporters to the owners. Potential investors want to plant an MLS stadium in downtown Detroit.

Well property would be cheap. I really like their supporters but I don't see the MLS banking on them. Just another example as to why we need a promotion system. It's important to support lower division soccer for that very reason. Ties into the open cup too. Until we have a strong hierarchy throughout US soccer we don't overtake Europe in quality. Clubs like Detroit are helping us get there. Thanks for posting the links.

If the Michigan Bucks decide to try and move downtown, then Detroit City FC might have some trouble...
