Lagging ticket sales mean that about one-third of the Home Depot Center's seats will be hidden behind banners.

When will the owner of the Goats wise-up that he needs to rebrand and move his team to a market that will worship MLS?

Or he could just alter the name to CD(Club Deportivo) LA or even to LA Aztecs. LA Aztecs is another NASL name.

No need to move the team out of LA. A rebrand would be fine I guess. What they need to do is get back to being a competent team. But they fired Preki and everything went down hill after that. They were actually better than the Galaxy for a few years and among the best in the West. Well, until they lost Guzan, Klejstan, Bornstein...

They completely tarped out the end that legion 1908 would be in... if they ever bothered to turn up anymore.

Should rename that team Club Deportivo Los Angeles... the whole fake chivas thing was always a complete disaster. Two teams can work in LA, huge enough market, but all the mexicans who don't support Guadalajara already would never support chivas usa as branded, and those that do mostly think of the gringo variety as a joke.

I think the only way they successfully and completely rebrand is to sell to new ownership and rename something that isn't linked to Chivas at all. CD-LA won't work, either... too close to CD-Guad.

Otherwise, they're going to continue to be stuck with exactly what you point out here- that only a portion of Mexican folks are supporters of Chivas, and there's far more people who HATE them because they're supporters of (insert every other Mexican team here).

In hindsight, it was a pretty stupid marketing decision. Rather than making their team have potential appeal to everyone in the LA area, whether Mexican or white or black or non-Mexican Hispanic or whatever, they limited their fan base.

Not only did they limit it to a primarily Mexican audience (and granted, there's a heck of a lot of Mexicans in SoCal!) but then they limited it to a small subset of that population.

Dumb business move.

Supposedly CUSA will have a new brand next year. These are attractive designs.

I still think they should move to SD, but having their own stadium (and I'd assume infrastructure to go along with it) is a huge step in the right direction.

Honestly, after the last away match, I kinda like these guys. We were chatting up their security, and they absolutely despise the Galaxy. I guess when you call their ticket line and get Galaxy marketing in the hold music, that's gotta rankle a bit. We asked where the nearest restroom was to our tailgate, and when we suggested we just use the side of the LA Galaxy truck as a latrine instead, the staff laughed and said, "Oh, be my guest!"

it's pretty sad what chivas has had to do in the HDC... half the place is tarped off now.

Then again, if NFL comes back to LA and Farmers Field gets built, LAG may be moving there and HDC could be tenant-less if Chivas move to East LA, the Coliseum, or new digs somewhere else in the eastern half of LA County.

Yup, pretty interesting that both Chivas and the Galaxy could end up moving out of the HDC.

Chivas USA has been looking at moving out of the HDC for awhile now I think. Been rumors about potential sites etc. These basic renderings are hopefully a sign things are starting to move forward in that direction.

That looks like a nice set-up for a complex. I hope it works out for them.

Interesting design. It looks like they plan to recycle the grandstand from the existing horse racing track. that should save a lot on costs. There shouldn't be much grade work required to level the field, and they only have to build stands on the two ends and one side.

I do find it amusing that the renderings show "existing equestrian facility", but they plan to remove the track (which I would think is the reason the equestrian facility exists).
