they think the facial expressions are "funny/weird". I guess if you were a neutral from a different part of the world and didn't know him or the group, I'd see why they'd have a laugh at it. We'd probably do the same thing if it were some random video from Hungary or Indonesia...

Ahh, this one, you mean #1 here: http://www.ultras-tifo.net/funny-videos.html

Sounds like some ass-hurt Portscum fans ('Shittle'? Really? That's the best you can do with Seattle?) in teh comments.

yep it's likely TA or 1906 that start this up every few months. It's gotten cross posted on bigsoccer as well, so that's kinda the meme of the month over there for piss taking on us... I guess the "Seattle invented...." one got old.

Meh, jealousy. The 1906 had what 200 people at that match I went to down there? Jealousy. I think it's awesome that they're so weak they have to mock the supporters, not the team. That really speaks to how much the ECS makes an impact on others.

Are you talking about us, or the rest of the league?

If you mean us, we increased the scale rather than doing 10 smaller displays. If we'd tried to do much more than the 3 we did, our tifo production crews would have killed somebody. (Probably size8)

it hasn't been a great year for tifo in MLS, to be honest. DC's continued to punch above their weight, but most of the rest of the league has underperformed.

I think that's representative of a large trend in mls. Supporters have been the hot thing for the last few years and everybody wanted a group and wanted to be in a group. But I feel a lot of them were simply imitating what they saw. So they did some choreos, found out they were hard and expensive, and now the leagues regressed a bit. I think a lot of the smaller mls markets have been imitating Portland, Seattle and others without an actual understanding of what they are doing or why. So tifo displays are an easy thing to stop doing. Could be wrong but only time will tell.

Imitating what they saw is spot on. I feel that the only cities that have people who actually understand tifo or Washington DC, Portland, and Seattle.

It also seems like a lot of groups have been under fire from the league and/or their own front office for stupid stuff like language. I can see that pouring some ice water on some tifo plans.

I'd add Montreal / UM02 to the list... they've done a couple displays this year that while small, were fairly well done. The mentality in that group is pretty good.

here's colorado's

and another one from DC

There's some quibbles to be had with execution on that Colorado display, but I really appreciate that they've stepped their game up hugely.

yeah.... Colorado had an absolutely abysmal effort earlier this year vs. Salt Lake -- probably the worst MLS tifo of all time -- but other than that, they've been surprisingly good for a smaller group lately.

And honestly, that was a better display than what the TA did yesterday -- better artwork on both the text banner (good job on the motorcar) and the license plate. Actually tied together rather nicely.

I might have missed it, but I'm pretty sure ESPN didn't show the tifo yesterday... which is comical, because ours is generally shown in some way on the broadcast, even if it's in a recap at halftime.
