well... the final was on Fox Soccer Channel and the production is a lot different than usllive is. Basically FSC had a bunch of microphones around the pitch and they would switch from mic to mic. Their default one was on top of a temporary camera platform about as far away as you can get from us without being outside the ground.

Most of the time, they had the mic nearest us turned completely off, so you really couldn't hear us that well... although sometime in the second half an Atlanta player was taking a throw-in in our end and BOOM the mic at that end was turned on and we were as loud as day. But a little while later, the mic was muted and you really couldn't hear much down at that end.

The FSC cameras and other gear were completely the opposite end as we were, as opposed to usllive which has the one main camera and all the audio in the main stand (just down from us)... so we always sound a lot louder than the FSC broadcasts.

Toward the end you could see smoke bombs going off in our terrace, but other than that, the sound there wasn't the greatest.

Eve of the new season, finally. It seems like an age since 21,000 U's glumly walked out of Wembley Stadium, but after a very hectic summer, we're back.

We've assembled a good squad, all we're missing still is a backup goalkeeper, the only concern is if the inexperienced manager will step up to the challenge or not. If he does, we should be there or thereabouts, but tere's a dozen teams in this league that have a good chance of getting promotion this year, so it won't be easy.

We're on Setanta 3 times in the first 3 months of the season. At home to Kettering Town on Monday August 25th (4.15pm GMT, 8.15am PDT), away to Oxford United on Tuesday 23rd September (7.45pm GMT, 11.45am PDT) and away to Forest Green Rovers on Thursday 16th October (7.45pm GMT, 11.45am PDT). The season starts tonight on Setanta with Barrow vs Oxford United. Let's hope it's as good as last season but with a slightly better ending this time.

cool... I have Setanta programming via satellite here, but not sure if everything is the same or not. Don't recall getting conference games that much... just loads of premiership and a weekly game from the championship or league one. I'll keep an eye on the channel grid though!

Won 1-0 today, looked very impressive, all the new players impressed and we looked very solid. Still looks like we're missing a bit upfront, but I'm sure the strikers will gel soon. Top start, a win over our "bogey side" Kidderminster on Tuesday would be beautiful.

Just thought I'd share some photos of our "Ultra" efforts (first one isn't mine). Obviously we're seriously lacking still, but I thought we made an OK start, we did well to get everything in, but our fans were banned from the bar afterwards because of the smoke bomb we let off! We were in fantastic voice though, especially in the 2nd half. And my telescopic pole broke at the end of the game :( Good fun though, will be interesting to see the reaction once everyone is back, not read anything negative so far though.

Great banter today and by far the best away fans to visit the VS in along time, sang and chanted the whole match......Respect. Cool

They were fine to be fair. When we were setting the banner up the guy came over and said "You know you're not allowed those poles in here, but I'm gonna let you do it as long as it causes no harm to anyone" which by English standards is a pretty rare thing to hear! Had some good banter with him after the game too. They only came up to make people get down off the back of the stand rather than trying to kick people out for waving flags and letting off the smoke bomb too, so it was OK.

Just been looking at the Setanta schedule, re: your earlier message in the thread, and it seems they definitely don't show the games as the York vs Wrexham game on Thursday isn't listed. I assume it's different contracts for different countries Setanta operate in, because they don't have rights over here to the live League Cup or Championship games that are listed this week. Still, there's all your streams on the internet that'll have it on anyway.

This is looking good! 1/2 an hour to go and the 50 year curse will be lifted. Assist goes to Jardim who gets credit for a "perfect cross" according to the man on the radio.

Attendance is only 3,008 and we can hear Amber Army clear as day!
