I urge you all to tune into FSC at 10pm Pacific Saturday night to see Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory, possibly the biggest match in A-League history!

Defending Premiers and Champions Melbourne Victory only need a draw to retain the Premiers Plate, having already secured their home final. The less talk about Scum FC the better

We've already sold 750 tickets in the Melbourne end (that's one full bay) as of Thursday afternoon (Australian time) and there's talk of selling at least another 500 to Melbourne boys alone... I'm at the airport now waiting for my flight to Shitney

What to expect: tempers, flares, fights, pitch invasions, riot cops, Matthew Breeze (the ref) fucking up in spectacular fasion (as he's renowned for), sky blue heads on pikes, the Habour Bridge on fire... will be epic!

That was a fun match! Sydney FC with the 2-0 win!!!! Kisel's goal was fucking ridiculous! Tough, physical play all the way through. The Cove sounded and looked great all game. I hope those that were there can give some more details.

Now they have to do it again on Thursday.

Tifo; after the tards previously gay "welcome to hell" banner when we played in Melbourne, Sydneys tifo crew came up with 2 stage pullover; stage one is the gates of Heaven with the words "Moore Park" (this is the home of the Sydney Football Stadium) making up part of the gate, a text banner at the front of The Cove reads "Welcome to Heaven" in stage two the gates are opened to reveal a Sydney Angel and the text at the front of the Cove reads "rid yourself of envy"

There was a great shot on FSC of the Sydney supporters doing the pogo - just after the 60th minute, people were going absolutely mental.

Looked like a very good crowd on hand - more than the announced 25k plus.

Good play from both sides, plenty of chances - nothing Melbourne could do about the first goal. AS for the 2nd, Aloisi should have been shut down on his run from midfield, he had far too much space and made the most of it (easy for me to say from my couch  ).

Looking forward to seeing more games on FSC.

I flew into Sydney the day before and stayed at the Sydney Central YHA hostel. If anyone is after cheap accommodation in Sydney I highly recommend this place (but bring your own pillow, theirs were a bit crummy).

Matchday Sunday. From opening at 10am Melbourne boys decended pre-prematch pub, Paddy McGuires in Haymarket, for brews and a bit of a singalong over the next few hours. We got around 200+ there by 2pm when we began the pub crawl down Foveaux St. On arrival at the first pub (KB?s) it was apparent that we were not all going to fit so we fragmented along the several pubs around Surry Hills before all moving on to the pre-match pub at the Bat and Ball.

Melbourne v Sydney fixtures are renowned for scuffles between supporters and the New South Wales Police came prepared: no less than 15 members of the Public Order and Riot Squad decked out in dark blue overalls, sunglasses, baseball caps surrounded the pub and reinforcements hidden around the corner in dark SUVs.

At 4pm 300+ of us were marched, with police escort, across Moore Park and into the back gate of the Sydney Football Stadium. We were greeted by dozens of fluro-shirted seccos and the infamous Hatamoto trio (Hatamoto: the FFA?s contracted security consultants/hired goons/fucking kents) who pulled out a number of North Terrace leaders and known troublemakers, herded them into an Iraqi boarder checkpoint-style pen and put the fear of God into them.

We had the entire south end of the stadium to ourselves; at least 1000 had made the trip. North Terrace boys, including the ?well ?ard? crews down the front, south enders up the back and randoms, bandwagoners and general flogs in the middle. Once again, we were surrounded completely by these riot cops, with at least ten on the pitch directly in front of the Melbourne bays, five on each flank and three the rear at the top of each aisle.

The game itself was shite. Ernie Merrick has demonstrated that signing a bunch of midfielders and no strikers was a dick idea. Danny Alsop left for DC United via Qatar and Archie Thompson and Billy Celeski out injured has left us with Robbie Kruse who runs hot and cold and that useless wanker Mrdja who we signed as a temporary injury replacement player. We don?t have any depth in the squad now and it?s cost us back-to-back Premierships. We could do nothing to stop the first goal, which Shitney were lucky to get considering it came off the bloke's shin. The second goal could have been easily shut down. Pretty pissed off with Leijer right now; he's a lot better than that and I expected more from him.

As for support, we started strong. A tifo pullover kicked us off before doing our best, which was remarkably hard considering how humid it was and the lack of effort on the pitch. Our tifo consisted of two pullovers: one read ?M?, the other ?V?. The banners in front read "No Glitz, No Glamour" and ?Pure Melbourne?. This refers to Shitney supporters being affiliated with, and pandering to the needs of the club and FFA while trying to promote themselves as the league?s glamour club. On the other hand, Melbourne?s active supporters are completely non-affiliated with the club, have never been given anything and have had to fight long and hard battles to get what little we have.

After the first Sydney goal someone in the bay chucked a half-full water bottle onto the pitch. Riot cops decended into the front of the bay and dragged out of the boys from a crew. The other boys in crews didn?t take kindly to this and it was on for young and old! Blokes being skull-dragged out by seccos and cops, flares, smokies, camera phones recording, etc. Those in the crews who weren?t evicted left out of solidarity which left the rest of us North Terrace boys to move down the front and fill the void.

As the afternoon went on and the likelihood of winning waned it got harder to sing and harder to encourage the flogs and south enders to sing. Right at the final whistle is started to rain heavily and depression ensued. We were herded out the back gate and dispersed on to the streets while the Scum FC supporters celebrated and lifted the Plate.

I was walking through the park, separated from my mates and with the intention of getting a tub of Baskin Robbins, crawling into a hole and dying. I decided to detour back to the Bat and Ball to see if anyone else was in the same predicament. This decision saved the trip and my mental health! At least 150 had gone back and were cracking into the schooners. As the night went on the numbers dropped however drunkenly belting out random chants, havin? a larf, takin? the piss and singing along to Poison, AC/DC, Rod Stewart and whatever else came out on the jukebox well made up for the crappy result on pitch.

So what happens now? The finals series! Shitney and Melbourne finished one and two respectively on the table, which means we play a two-legged semi-final series. The first leg is played this Thursday in Melbourne and the return leg is played on a date to be finalised, however is can be assumed that it will be March 6. The winner on aggregate progresses to a home Grand Final while the loser plays a home Preliminary Final on March 13. Melbourne also start their 2010 AFC Champions League campaign on Tuesday February 23 in Bejing so it?s a busy time for us in the next few weeks.

Major Semi Final - Leg 1 - Melbourne Victory FC v Scum FC, Etihad Stadium, Thursday 18th February 2010.

I left Brisbane on Tuesday morning and drove south. It took two days with an overnight stop in Gosford, north of Sydney. Why did I choose to drive 1500km (930mi) each way? 1. Flights were at least AU$200 (US$170) each way and out of my budget; and 2. My brother has a salary-packaged novated lease on a new Toyota RAV4 (including fuel) and needed to clock up an additional 3500km before April in order to avoid Fringe Benefits Tax. So I stole his car while he's in San Francisco and drove south.

Anyway, I had the Thursday to myself in Melbourne. I can't remember much because I was wrecked after the drive. I know I went shopping, had lunch at Shanghai Dumpling (Melbourne's best, cheapest and fastest Chinese food) and then eventually went off to the game.

I can't remember much of the game either. I know we beat the Scum 2-1, but thats about it. And no, I didn't have a single brew all day.

Anyway, Friday I jumped back in the car and headed back to Brisbane, this time going inland with a night in Dubbo.

Next match? The return leg which will be played in Sydney next Sunday afternoon Australian-time. Once again, this match will be shown live on FSC at 10pm Seattle-time on March 6. I totally recommend getting off the bus after the Vancouver Away trip, heading into the pub and demanding they put this on for you.

The winner of the Major Semi-Finals on aggregate earns a home Grand Final on March 20 and the loser earns a home Preliminary Final on March 13 against the winner of the Wellington Phoenix v Newcastle Jets knockout finals match.

If I was going to pay A$100+ to see a bunch of old dudes nearly dying on-stage I'd rather pay to see the Rolling Stones.

I may have to DVR this depending on what condition I arrive back in Seattle. Looking forward to it regardless.

Tough break for Sydney last night. FYI, if you are in Austrailia, the game started here at 10pm and finished at about 1am.

Still can't figure it out. How come Wellington didn't go to the Final after winning the Semi but Melbourne did?
