2012 Co-Ed Indoor Winter Thread

ECS Football Club

Unread postby SPQR » Fri Oct 5, 2012 1:54:05 pm

This is the continuous thread for the winter season for co-ed indoor.

First game:
Mon Oct 8, 2012 8:20pm Indoor Magnuson vs Balls to the Wall HT

Please be sure to set RSVPs for this week as well as for every week. If it helps, set them all right now as best you know and then just adjust only as necessary.

I'm going to try and keep up with the statistics this season, as we did in years past, as well as trying to keep the continuous thread a little more updated.

First match is a 4-2 loss, unfortunately. We had really good flashes, though, our team play is getting a lot better and I think I should have done a better job to adjust to their strategy...

Goals by Rory and Morgan, an assist for Sarah.

We've got a game on New Year's Eve! PLEASE be sure to RSVP for this one way in advance, I have a feeling that we'll have a difficult time getting a full roster, so at the very least I'd like to know my numbers as early as possible.

And please RSVP to as many matches as you can in advance! If necessary, just set your RSVP for each match as best you can foresee, and then for the future will only need to update for games if your status changes. Thanks everyone! (Posting from my actual account this time...)

We had our second game late last night. 9-4 loss, goals for Morgan (nice header!), Matthew (x2, in a span of three minutes?), and Ashley (nice set piece). Rory with an assist on that last one.

It's weird how we seem to play worse with a man up, but part of that falls on me. From now on, as we talked about, we'll just know that our extra player will be a forward. I thought our passing was okay, our positioning was much better, and our runs off of the ball were most improved I've seen in a while. Tighten up a couple of the goals given up and I think we could have been pressing to win it.

A 3-2 win tonight! Not much time to do a full write-up, but it feels good to win one with a late game-winning goal!!

Goals for Rory, Morgan, Anthony
Assist for Anthony

That was a fun one! Not that they're not ALL fun, of course. But it feels real good to get a win!

I hope you all got the email, but the New Year's Eve game has been rescheduled! Now you all can get happily wasted before midnight.

It is now Wednesday, December 12th at 9:20 pm at Magnuson. Please RSVP as soon as you can, especially because it is not a Monday game and I am not sure how that will work for everyone. Thanks!

Thanks anthony! Since I was the main bitcher, I will do my best to be there (though it's finals week so I won't know for a while if I can).

Last night's game was sick. great comeback in the last few minutes, in a super close game.

Last night's result was a very tight 4-3 loss. We had the upper hand for most of the match, honestly, and for a stretch of about 15 minutes we were playing some of the best soccer we've ever played with this roster. Kept our defending pretty tight during that stretch, had a couple of timely goals from Sarah, and kept pressuring their defense.

Unfortunately, we got a liiiiiittle lax on defense toward the middle of the second half, and their two skilled players took their chances well. Next week I'm going to try to emphasize closing down space without stabbing (I think I stabbed for a guy on their last goal, it led to him being able to score).

Sarah with a nice brace! :tatice:

I really feel like we're on the verge of turning a corner, and hopefully soon, some of these close losses are going to turn into ties and close wins. It will take time, as we continue to develop as a team and as some of the lesser experienced players continue to build confidence.

Thanks to Theresa for coming out to help us!

4-3 loss to Parametric

I was stabbing too. felt I played a pretty bad game outside of the box! 90 minutes on Sunday was rough- but damn, courteney was playing great. totally stripped their best player of the ball in the midfield at least once.
still working on my set pieces.
