Hey guys,

We've got some training setup for this December. This training is more of a player placement/ tryout training. As our teams become more competitive and move up the ranks of the GSSL we as coaches and managers need a better way of evaluating players. We have decided to have 3 sessions, 2 weekend sessions and 1 week night session. This should allow for everyone a chance to work with their schedules to show up at least once. As you all know with tryouts the more you get to show yourself the better. You are not required to show up to all 3, but you are highly encouraged to.

We will be bringing in outside evaluators to bring in an unbiased opinion of players abilities. We will also have past players, coaches, and the current management staff. This will hopefully give us the best look at players to give everyone a fair and even chance to be viewed.

You might ask why we are doing this and there are a few reason. One is we have a constant influx of new players coming into the club and we have not had a proper way to evaluate them or what teams they should be placed on. Another reason is if we are to put someone and a team and they are taking someone else’s spot it is only fair to give both people a chance to fight for that spot. Finally we are growing into a very competitive club with very high goals which I will touch on in the next paragraph.

As some of you have heard we have started looking into what it would take to enter the US Open Cup. Well we have been in contact with them and many other USSF officials and we now know the road we need to take. This is not an easy road nor is it a short one. We have many years ahead of us before we take that step into the tourney, but we know the path and that is the first step. We know the competition levels we need to look at we know how to get there and first is taking our 3 GSSL teams to championships each season and taking that number one spot in Division 1. In the next few weeks I will elaborate more on this with new mission and vision statements.

So now that you know a little history and why we are doing this and the great goals and paths laid before us I hope you are as excited to take this next step in ECS FC history as I am. We will look to make try-outs a more regular thing, but also do not want to break up the cohesion of the teams every season.

Here are the times and locations. Please be there early and booted by the start time as we do not want to waste any field time.

Sunday Dec 16, 10-11:30am - Lower Woodland #2
Wednesday Dec 19, 7-8:30pm - Lower Woodland #2
Sunday Dec 23, 10-11:30am - Lower Woodland #2

There are events posted in FC Manager. Please RSVP. If you cannot make it feel free to leave why in FC Manager or send your coach or myself why you will not be in attendance

If you have any questions please let your coach or myself know.

Thanks,

Brandon

Yes and no. We do have limited spots and space so those that are not currently on a team are welcome to contact us to see they can attend.

This is more a placement process for our current rosters and new players we have brought in. We are looking to do a more Open try out to anyone sometime in the summer session.

These are baby steps in the process to build a team that can compete in national cups someday.

So those of you that are not currently on a team, but looking to join please PM Needles for further information.

I emailed ecsfc@weareecs.com in order to get signed up for ECS FC Manager a couple of days ago, but haven't received an email back. Hopefully I can get signed up for these tryouts soon. Thanks for any help.

Do you want us there if we are unavailable for the winter season but plan on returning in the spring?
