Everything match specific.

You guys are slacking.... matchday thread created.

TV: NBC Sports Network

Josh Mayers reported ticket sales are > 52K as of this morning... should probably be in the upper 50's with walkup, good weather, and buzz building for the game.

Will be interesting to see what sort of availability Johnson and Dempsey have for us, and Beckerman for RSL given all three played the majority or the entire game v. Mexico. Would imagine Rimando plays given he didn't feature at all... Evans hopefully has recovered enough from his knock last week to play a part.

for me, this is the biggest match of the season so far. a win would be absolutely massive. not just from a SS perspective, but to help us maintain that mental edge. we've got a really intense September and October and are currently carrying on with a lot of momentum. a win vs RSL would give us a bit of breathing room in the SS race as well as keep confidence high. there's also a very good chance we meet RSL in the playoffs and going 0-3 against them in the league just gives players a little twitch that suggests maybe we can't beat them.

i have to say i'm getting more worked up for this than i was for portland home.

oh forgot to mention. Saborio was sent home from CRC camp before their game v. Jamaica with an injury... so he may not play either. Would definitely be a break for us.

No doubt this is our biggest match of the year so far. This will be a true barometer match to gauge where we stand among the top 5 clubs in the west. Should also be a great match between two good clubs. Very excited for this match.

That certainly helps, although Sabo hasn't played that many matches for RSL this season anyways. (I wanna say 13?)

Also, Real Salt Lake will still be dangerous without Saborio. As detailed in that ProSoccerTalk piece, RSL has 4 solid options at forward; all of whom are young and fighting for position on the depth chart. Those four players are: Olmes Garcia, Devin Sandoval, Robbie Findley and Joao Plata. By the way, the PST piece gives a nice breakdown of the strengths of the 4 forwards likely to feature for RSL.

TL:DR.... RSL will be still dangerous on offense.

So, last time the Sounders played on the Friday before a Seahawks home game, they played with football markings on the field. Anyone know if this will be the case again?

I said a while ago this is our year, and it's playing out nicely. However this is RSL dirty cheating efforts and our luck (which has been unbelievable recently) against them is minimal. Win this one. Win the league IMO!!

Yeah, they have faster methods of repainting the field, and also given the time of year there's not as much concern about new markings getting rained on as the last time this came up.

Sounders games are a day full of mixed emotions! I start out really excited. Then see the ECS chanting away and I begin to feel sadness. It always sucks being a Sounders fan out of State. Especially when you used to be apart of the madness years ago when I lived in Seattle... hopefully one day I return.
