Architecture River Boat Tour - maybe Sat morning? then Lunch somewhere before match pre-func?

It'd be pretty fun to get a group together for a boat tour or any other non-match event! I'm going to both Nashville and Chicago and just figuring out timing etc. I love Chicago, lived there for a year in grad school and have visited many times since then. Lots of recs depending on neighborhood.

I'll be hitting the best (maybe only?) soccer bar in town at least once - The Globe Pub. It's a bit north but worth it especially if you have a car and there's another match on to watch - always a good atmosphere and the bartenders will just *love* being overrun by Sounders supporters ;). They certainly loved us every matchday (it was a love/hate, for sure).

You should check that they're still around if you plan to hit any of these!

If you're south at all, hit Medici cafe near uChicago for great pizza and sandwiches at night or coffee and pastries earlier in the day. Boystown is great for a night out. Wrigleyville is a bit of a mess / brofest (at least from what I remember) but you can't not go especially if you're a baseball fan!

There are probably some new good breweries, but one of my favorites is still Half Acre - get the Daisy Cutter Pale - it rivals a lot of what I've had in Seattle. Revolution is decent too. Find any small bar that looks like the door to a basement, it'll have an Old Style sign above it, and will look and smell like your grandparents' basement. You'll know you found a great place

The sixth has great cocktails. Violet Hour was a cool speakeasy. Big Joe's is a fun Friday night if you don't mind a packed bar with turtle racing.

The Bongo room has great breakfasts far north. There's a coffee shop called the Emerald City (apparently someone got confused) which is decent. The wormhole is another solid coffee place up north. Big Star and Velvet Tacos are both solid taco options but you could probably find more authentic in other neighborhoods.

If you have a night, you should go to BLUES on Halsted or Kingston Mines for blues! Buddy Guy's is also a classic. The Billy Goat is another that'll be on most peoples' list - it's actually pretty good and cheap food. The original is a little hard to find under the street on Michigan, but it's worth it I'd say, especially for a late night bite.

If you're looking for upscale, The girl and the goat or Mfk. are super good restaurants, as is the purple pig.

Looks like my order (2 tickets) was just changed from confirmed to cancelled early this morning. Did that happen to anyone else?

Hollie and I are definitely interested in the Friday 7/15 Cubs game and the boat tour Saturday morning. Rachael, Hollie said she’ll reach out to you shortly and see if we can’t coordinate some shenanigans…

Coordination on Cubs game has happened and tickets have been acquired!

For anyone interested in joining bleacher seats are all GA and we're going Friday 7/15 - game is at 1:20pm.

Working to coordinate the boat tour - sounds like Sunday evening is the target.

adding additional details for anyone who might want to join/follow along with myself, Rommel, Rob, and Hollie:

Post Friday afternoon Cubs game - dinner and drinks at Three Dots and a Dash - you'll want to make a reservation for this place if you plan to go. We've got a reservation for ourselves 6:00PM on Friday 7/15. There is a $10 per person deposit to make a reservation.

Sunday - 90 min river boat architecture tour - we've booked our tickets through Wendella Tours for the 6:30pm sailing on 7/17.

Where's the pre-match boozing going to be? I'm thirsty already...

Monkey mail with tickets and all information will be out next Tues or Weds. The prefunc is at the Weather Mark Tavern at 3PM game day. We will march to the stadium from there and enter together. Link to the tavern: https://weathermarktavern.com/
