What has two thumbs and wants beer, smoked meat, and football? This travel monkey, that's who!

Our second trip to Montreal in as many years. Last year a number of us traveled and missed the match on account of a snow delay (yes, at an indoor stadium). This year we invade Quebec mid-summer, so we're not likely to see that this time around. Grab your passport and some plane tickets, and plan on joining your fellow supporters as we march into Stade Saputo like we own the place.

Pricing for the match is $23 for current ECS members and $25 for everyone else.

Here's a tentative schedule for the matchday:

• 2:00 pm – Meet at Hurley’s Irish Pub for pre-func. 1225 Crescent Street, Montreal, QC (they open at 11AM, you're welcome to start whenever you like)
• 6:00 pm – Start tabbing out
• 6:15 pm – March to Metro Station Peel (buy tickets in advance)
• 6:30 pm – Get on metro to Saputo Stadium
• 6:45 pm – Blow up Saputo Stadium metro station (Station Viau) with chants
• 7:00 pm – Wait to be escorted into stadium (we will stage at the corner of Viau and Sherbrooke)
• 8:00 pm – Match Starts – Own the place
• 10:00 pm – VICTORY!
• 10:20 pm – Proceed out of the stadium and back to Station Viau
• 10:45 pm – Proceed to Bier Markt Montréal to quench our throats from singing (1221 Boulevard René-Lévesque, at Rue Drummond)
• 12:00 am – Late night poutine and Montréal smoked meat anyone? (Did you say smoked meat poutine? Hell yeah!)
• ?:00 am – Get some shut eye, because even your faithful Travel Monkey needs sleep

** Please note the adjusted time. Game starts at 8PM, not 7PM **

Perhaps this is far too early, but I am very excited for this trip, and would love to know more about traveling with ECS for the trip! :)

Thanks!

It's never too early! Our goal is to have tickets for all the away matches available for purchase in the ECS Store by first kick or by CBA settlement, whichever comes first.

In the meantime, almost every previous away trip still has an open thread in this forum. You can go back and look through those for ideas on how things will likely develop, where we're likely to meet up, etc.

Thanks. I am mostly curious about hotels. For trips like this one, is it common for ECS to get a hotel deal?

One of the few MLS stadiums I have yet to visit... Going to be tracking flight prices to see if I can get a decent fare and cross it off the list.

5 of us have booked our flights/hotel, and looking forward to picking up tickets. The others have never been to Montreal, but i've been there a few times from when i lived out on the east coast. It is a fantastic city, especially in the summer, we're really looking forward to it.

We won't be negotiating a hotel deal for this trip. Last time I was there, I picked up a room at the Marriott, but any place you get near our pre-func spot, http://www.hurleysirishpub.com/, will be great.

Being in lower Montreal, Vermont, I'm stooked to make this 3 hour drive! If you need info on the area let me know

I basically told my boss "Find an excuse for me to travel to HQ in Montreal for the week of July 27th", and so I'm totally going to this one.

In 2012 we found cheap tickets out of Boise that had a quick stop in MSP. Yeah...what? Then with a super cheap Horizon flight to Boise it still came a few hundred cheaper than SEA to Montreal.

I believe Randall, Ian, and some others flew out of Vancouver for not much more than our pieced together trip.

This is still one of my favorite Aways I've been on. Amazing F'ing city.

I'm hopeful I can make the meetup before, but I'm going to be driving from Boston (5 hour trip) and it depends on how quickly I can get my car, cross the border, check in to the hotel, and then get out to the pub.

I'm going to try air bnb if anyone is interested. Somewhere close to the core and near metro. So looking forward to this one. Thursday-Sunday.

Oh cool, I can thank you for my awesome scarf. Guess I know which one I'm bringing to the game!

If you haven't purchased your tickets for the match, please do so soon. We'll be closing sales through the store after this weekend (7/11). Looking forward to hanging out with everyone who makes the trip.
