ECS MONKEY MAIL SPORTING KC AWAY JULY 24, 2016

Hello Kansas City Away Travelers!

It was the opening day of the season and a goal in the 73rd minute allowed SKC to escape with a victory. The result may have been a bit of foreshadowing on how our season has played out until this point, but this is the match where we take control back. This season will be what we make of it - WE control our own destiny.

The Emerald City Supporters have amassed AT LEAST 60 of the finest supporters in the land to descend upon the sun-drenched battlefield at Children’s Mercy Park. If we want three points, we’re going to have to earn it. Every chant, every member, every time! Let's show the SKC that rave green will stop at NOTHING and they can always count on us. What SKC doesn’t know is that the ECS remembers.

Here’s everything you need to know for this match day:

Tickets:
Your SKC Away Ticket(s) to stand with the Emerald City Supporters for the match on Sunday, July 24, 2015 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS 1 Sporting Way, Kansas City, KS 66111 are attached to this email! Print your ticket(s), bring them with you, and keep it with you for the entirety of the match.

Parking:
Away supporter parking is in Lot I (on the grounds of the Speedway). Parking is free of charge. The parking lot will open at 10:30 AM. NO PARKING PASS REQUIRED! Ask the parking attendant where the away support is designated to park.

Weather Preparedness:
Currently there is an extreme heat warning until Thursday at 10:00 PM. It is unknown if there will be such warning during the match, but safe to say it is going to be very hot. PLEASE HYDRATE (Not with BBQ sauce) early and often. If during the match you do not feel well there is a shaded alcove behind our section. SKC stadium staff will decide the day before the match if they will allow each fan one sealed (not frozen) 20oz bottle of water inside the stadium. Sunblock isn’t a bad idea either.

No host Tailgate:
The no host tailgate will commence in Lot I when the lot opens at 10:30AM. What is a no host tailgate? Food and beverages will not be provided for you. But we encourage you to bring your own food, drink and/or bring some to share. Hang out, have a drink, share and meet other traveling Sounders away supporters. Don’t forget we like to sing too!

Stadium Entry:
SKC is providing two shuttle buses to transport us from Lot I to the stadium one hour before kick-off. One bus will have ADA access. ECS will then enter Sporting Park through the East Gate near France Family Drive corner of the stadium. Please be prepared for bag checks, pat downs, and metal detectors at the gate. SKC follows the new MLS bag policy, please be prepared.

Camera Policy: If your camera has a detachable lens it will not be allowed in.

Game time Expectations:
Emerald City Supporters is a supporters group. That's important to remember. Our reason for being at the match is to spur our boys to victory; everything else is secondary.

• If you bought tickets directly from ECS or if you purchased tickets directly from Sporting Kansas City, our section will be 124 (a change from last game where we will be at the top instead of the bottom of the section) and will be treated as General Admission, we do not enforce seat assignments. Tifo, security and capos will be in the first row of our section. Everyone else is invited to stand where they feel most comfortable within our section.
• Participation is encouraged. If you don’t know all the words to the songs, just follow along the best you can and your support will be felt!
• Speaking of support, we like to wave flags: Sporting Park is great in that they allow flags anywhere in the stadium. BUT their policy is not to permit flags being to be waved during the run of play. We have been asked to be respectful of the people around us and if our flags may block someone's view to not to wave them during the run of play. So plan to wave your flags pre- and post-match, half time, and in celebration of all the Sounders’ goals that will be scored and during the run of play if they are not blocking someone’s view. If you’re bringing a flagpole please note that hollow PVC poles are permitted, and flags may not contain offensive, political, etc. content.
• Don’t drink so much that you get sloppy and give anything less than your best. YOUR BEST IS EXPECTED. You should work to exceed that.
• Do not engage in any way with home fans. There's no need to engage in any wordplay, taunting, threats, etc. If you have an issue, notify ECS travel monkeys on the ground or stadium staff.
• You should expect that you will be under surveillance at Sporting Park and conduct yourselves accordingly. BEHAVE AS THOUGH YOU ARE BEING WATCHED, BECAUSE YOU ARE.

FRIENDS OR FAMILY IN OTHER MLS TEAM GEAR OR COLORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND WITH US. We will be at the top of section 124. We will have two buffer rows at the bottom of our section that are designed to keep everyone safe, the next row is designated for flags/drums/capos. Aside from those specific areas you are free to stand wherever you feel comfortable. If you or someone in your group is wearing colors of another MLS team, they will be asked to remove those items. If they refuse, we will try to have your group reseated. If stadium staff cannot accommodate a reseating, then your group will be asked to leave.

Postgame: We will be held in the section for up to 30 minutes. Security will then escort the group back out through the East Gate onto France Family Drive where the same buses will be waiting to shuttle us back to Lot I. If you choose not to stay with the group, you assume the risks of your own security. THIS IS THE WORKING PLAN, IT MAY CHANGE.

Are the KC fans so aggressive that we need a security escort to and from the parking lot, or is that standard procedure?

I've never had an escort for the past away matches that I've attended in New Jersey and Philly. A few guys in Philly even tried to fight me after the match.

Thank you to everyone who came on this trip. Special shout out to the Heartland Horde for totally welcoming me, suggesting delicious Mid-West beers, and the before and after parties. It was a pleasure to hand out Pride Buttons and Flags to people who carry our Crest but don't get to share in the immediate Pride Celebration. Thanks also to Chris for Travel Monkeying. Never had this much fun in that much heat.

I am upset that the team didn't come over to acknowledge us. That felt hurtful, especially as we were loud as fuck all game.
I remember Morris, Roldan, and Frei coming over and giving us a hung-head clap. We cheered back to them. I'm pretty pissed at the rest of them.
