This is the (now) Houston local, I will be in DC during this match, yay!! What a game April 10th BTW, that was CLOSE!!!

I lived in DC 2011-2014, in Navy Yard, so I can mostly tell you about that area. Shared an apt building with some of the Washington Nationals :-)

The RFK area is pretty shady and when I did see the Sounders (and DC United) play there, I don't remember a whole lot around that area.

I will ask my former neighbors if they recommend a place to pre-game. You can always pre-game somewhere close to a Metro line and then hop the Metro straight to RFK (Stadium/Armory Stop on GREEN LINE). The metro takes you right to the stadium, it's mainly a walk across their parking lot to get in the door. Remember that the metro does close late at night (I think midnight on weekdays), so you want to be close to your hotel before it gets too late.

One thing is for sure, you don't want to drive there. Watch out for DIPLOMAT license plates (RED-WHITE-BLUE stripes), those are foreign ambassadors with diplomatic immunity, so they can run you over without being charged. There are blind corners everywhere, so use 10x caution if you cross somewhere without a crosswalk. There are panhandlers everywhere too, so stay in groups and keep walking without stopping or talking to anyone. The METRO system is very reliable, as long as you can get to any METRO stop from your hotel, you're golden. Hotels in DC proper (block or so from capital/whiteHouse) are MEGA $$, so you may think about splitting a hotel in Alexandria that you can either walk or uber to/from the Metro stop as a group. The great thing is DCA is right on the metro line (yellow/blue), so you can hop right on and get out of DC proper right away. If you want a cheaper airport, BWI isn't too far away (1 hr w/no traffic), but you have to catch a Metro BUS to get to the closet Metro stop in Northeast DC (GreenBelt metro stop); that's my plan.

There is alot to see in DC, that's for sure, but it's not all worth seeing. I recommend the air and space museum no matter what, but also their remote museum called the A&S Steven Udar by Dulles airport. The way to you get there is by showing up to the A&S on the national mall at 9am on a weekday then getting on their free bus to take you out there. The first bus leaves at 830/9a and the last to come back is 5p from the other side (don't miss it, it's far). That place is amazing, they even have the actual space shuttle endeavor there now. Other stuff on the national mall is pretty good, but I highly recommend a hop on/off bus pass to see all the outside stuff, it's all far enough way to tire you our walking right away; lethal traffic too.

If you want to see the inside of the pentagon, white house, capital, washington monument; there needs to be some planning ahead, those can be tricky to get into.

any questions, let me know, GOOO SOUNDERS!!!

You can reach out to D.C and let them know that you want to be with the ECS. Try emailing Dan, DFinerfrock@dcunited.com , and see if he can add you to section 318

If driving and parking at stadium Lot 3. We will meet everyone there by 7pm and then all enter our own gate at 7:15.
