Travel monkeys work very hard at what we do, please read or at least skim the details. Please be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there.

Hello Away Traveling Champions!!!

Welcome to our third away trip of 2017! This is the beginning of a three match road swing for our boys. They need to hear and feel our support!

Being the reigning champs puts a target on our teams back, it also puts a target on our champion traveling support. You may have traveled with us before and never experienced any issues. This means our organization has worked in the past and we expect that to continue. Please make sure that during your time at Avaya you use the buddy system, go to restroom in pairs, get beer with a friend, visit the bar or concessions with a buddy. Make sure your scarf it tied at all times. Please read this email in it's entirety.

GAMETIME (IMPORTANT INFORMATION):

7:30 p.m. Kickoff

Emerald City Supporters is a supporters group. That's important to remember. Our reason for being at the match is to spur our boys to victory; everything else is secondary. Keep your alcohol consumption in check before, during and after the match.

• Our section 134, Rows 19-27, will be treated as General Admission; we do not enforce seat assignments. Tifo and capos will be in the front few rows. Everyone else is invited to stand where they feel most comfortable.

• Participation is encouraged. Don’t worry if you don’t know all the words, just follow along the best you can and your support will be felt! You received song cards as part of your membership packet, if you need them bring them with you or if you don't need them bring them with you to share with others.

• There may be times where you can’t see as well as you might like due to flags and tifo. We like to wave flags. Even during the run of play sometimes. We feel like it’s an important part of showing the boys our support. If a flag is in your way, and you don’t like it- please feel free to stand in an alternate location within our section.

Don't drink so much that you get sloppy and give anything less than your best. YOUR BEST IS EXPECTED. You should work to exceed that.

• Do not engage in any way with home fans. There's no need to engage in any wordplay, taunting, threats, etc. If you have an issue, notify ECS travel monkeys on the ground, capo or stadium staff.

• You should expect that you will be under surveillance at Avaya Stadium and conduct yourselves accordingly. BEHAVE AS THOUGH YOU ARE BEING WATCHED, BECAUSE YOU ARE.

FRIENDS OR FAMILY IN OTHER MLS TEAM GEAR OR COLORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND WITH US. Section 134 Rows 19-27 is designated for fans and supporters of Seattle Sounders FC. If you or someone in your group is wearing colors of another MLS team, they will be asked to remove those items. If they refuse, we will try to have your group reseated. If stadium staff cannot accommodate a reseating, then your group will be asked to leave.

AGAIN, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN OUR SECTION, AND WE DON’T CARE HOW IT WORKS IN OTHER AMERICAN SPORTS. WE NEGOTIATED THIS GROUP RATE, WE ORGANIZED THIS TRIP, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE FOR ANY REASON. -yes, we’re serious about this.

POSTGAME:

Standard procedure for all MLS matches is to hold the visiting supporters in the section, normally to allow the home fans to exit first. Our hold will be very short at most up to 10 minutes. We ask that you please abide by this short temporary hold and exit as a group. We organize this group and these procedures for the safe entry and exit of stadiums of our group. There has recently been issues with other supporters at different stadiums throughout the league, leaving as a group is one measure to prevent these issues. Once our hold is over we will all exit as a group and then be escorted by stadium security out of our section back out through the visiting supporters entrance and will proceed back to Visiting Supporters parking lot. At which point you are all free to disperse. There is no tailgating allowed postgame.

If you leave the match early you assume the responsibility of your own security and should use the front/main gate near section 101.

I'll be the lead Travel Monkey for this adventure. In the past, we get 250 tickets and they'll move pretty quickly. Stay tuned for more info!

Looking like the family and I are going to try to make it down for this game!

We regularly head up for away games at Vancouver but this will be our first visit to San Jose. I'll probably look to just get tickets and not sit with ECS (I'm not sure the kids are ready for that yet :) ).

Two questions for folks:
- Vancouver is a pretty friendly stadium for away sounder fans sitting in random spots. My sense is that Portland isn't (although I haven't made that trip yet). How's San Jose?
- When we travel to Vancouver we've generally tried to get seats in the same vicinity of ECS - generally the section closer to the field. What section does away support generally sit in?

Thanks!

I found the supporters section in last year's away thread (134) so that question is answered but I'd still love to know any opinions about the friendliness of the stadium in general - particularly if we are in same/nearby section...

Thanks!

I didn't go last year but two years ago when they had their first game in their new stadium found the stadium to generally be friendly. Earthquakes attract families more so than rabble rousers. I spent most of my time down by the bar, which is behind one end of the field, and sparring conversations were kept fairly tame. Just stay away from their supporters section (opposite the bar), although, tbh - I doubt you'll run into any trouble with family around.

Got airfare and a room booked at the Fairmont!! So excited - San Jose last year was my favorite away trip ever! Bringing at least 2 local Sounders fans with me too. I was surprised how nice everyone at the San Jose stadium was. They don't block off the away section like they do in Portland so I was really nervous but had zero problems. Even when we hung out at the giant bar, I heard a few good natured zings, but then they admitted they loved Dempsey on the national team so it was totally fine. The only hard part for us was finding the right stadium parking lot for the march - no one we asked (even the workers) seemed to have a clue where it was...
