Hello Away Travelers!!

Welcome back to the Heartland! You are one of the few lucky supporters to come hang out with me and support our boys to 3 points! Bring your voices, bring your spirit our boys will need every ounce you have!

Let’s make sure after 90 minutes everyone in that stadium knows THIS LAND WAS MADE TO BLEED RAVE GREEN!

Your Travel Monkey for this weekend will be Andy Hegeman (@andy_2991)

Here are a few things he’d like you to know for matchday:

Your HOUSTON Away Ticket(s) to stand with the Emerald City Supporters for the match on Saturday July 27, 2019 at 7:00 PM Central at BBVA Compass Stadium (BBVA Compass Stadium: 2200 Texas AVE, Houston), are attached to this email! Print your ticket(s), bring them with you, and keep it with you for the entirety of the match. No tickets will not be able to be scanned from your phone- so print your tickets.

We will be prefuncing from 3-5:00ish PM at:

The Flying Saucer
705 Main Street
Houston, TX 77002

We will pay our tabs by 5:00-5:10pm and then walk as a group from the Flying Saucer to the train Central Station Rusk. Your gameday ticket can be used for the train and will need to be shown so keep it handy and no need to purchase a separate train ticket. We will be getting off the train at the station stop and meeting with security at 5:30pm. Security will then escort our group to the Goya gate (at the intersection of Walker and Emancipation).

Parking around the stadium or downtown near the prefunc is mostly paid private lots and the prices normally start at $25 cash. We have been told that there is a lot of construction downtown so please give yourself some time to park so that you are not the one who is running late! I highly recommend meeting us at the prefunc, but if you are not joining us we have been asked to avoid the areas boxed in red on the attached map. Please be very aware of your surroundings. We had 3 incidents of people being targeted by Dynamo fans in 2017. Once parked please meet us at the Eado/Stadium light rail station at 5:30!

Stadium Entry (5:30PM SHARP):

Once we meet up at the Eado/Stadium light rail station, security will escort us to the Goya Gate at BBVA (see stadium entry attachment) at 5:30.TIFO must be presented at the front and will be inspected at this time. We will be going through metal detectors and/or pat downs. Then escorting us to our section. The plan is that we will all be inside the stadium and in our section at 5:45PM.

BAG POLICY: BBVA at this point is not using the clear bag policy that CLink is on. However, no bags larger than 14x14x6.

TIFO: We were pre-approved approximately 10 flags with poles so if you want to waive a flag you will be able to. For banners or what we call 2 poles we were allotted only to be able to bring 2, with the poles to go with them. We will not have extra poles and we will be bringing only the ones approved ahead of time by the stadium. If you would like to hold a 2 pole or waive a flag please let the Monkey or your Capos know. We were able to get a drum approved. YAY! If anyone is interested in drumming come ask the Monkey! H ouston Away is a terrific opportunity get your feet wet.

WATER: You are allowed to bring an up to 32 oz clear empty plastic water in to the stadium and water filling stations are located inside the stadium.

Gametime Expectations:

Emerald City Supporters is a supporter group. That's important to remember. Our reason for being at the match is to spur our boys on toward victory; everything else is secondary.

•Our section will be a portion of Section 231, Rows S and T. The team tickets will be seated a couple rows in front of us (we are not here to bother them- we are here to show our boys support). Our section will be treated as General Admission; we do not enforce seating assignments. Capos and the drum, will be in the first row . Everyone else is invited to stand where they feel most comfortable.

•Participation is encouraged. We will have song cards so you can sing, chant, and go mental right along with us. Don't worry if you don't know all the words, just follow along the best you can and your support will be felt!

•Friends or Family in other MLS team Gear or colors will not be allowed to stand with us! If you or someone in your group is wearing another MLS Teams gear, they will be asked to remove those items (this includes any Houston Gear!) If they refuse, then the group will be asked to leave. There could also be the possibility of no option to be reseated. We have arranged for this group purchase for SOUNDERS SUPPORTERS. It is our right to refuse entry within our group. Yes, we take this very seriously.

•Please, do not engage in any way with home fans. Security will keep them at bay; there's no need for any wordplay, taunting, threats, etc. If you have an issue, notify your Travel Monkey, Capo or stadium staff.

Please note you may not stand or jump on seats. We were asked to tell you this could lead to ejection or arrest. Apparently, BBVA takes this seriously.

We will be held in the section for a minimum of 15 minutes. Security will then escort the group back to the train station. Yes, we know you want to get home, guess what we all do. Your safety is very important to us. In a few of our last visits to Houston we had multiple incidents of individuals being targeted when alone. Please be patient and wait during the security hold so we can all safely exit the stadium.

We may be travelling to Houston this weekend independently of the game and were thinking about going. It doesn't look like there are tickets in the store. Will there be? Is there going to be an away section for this game?

IIRC there’s a bar with margaritas though if that helps.

I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of breathing room throughout the stadium, though. The FO said they won't come close to selling out (obviously) haha.

Will we be able to print our tickets? We are driving out tomorrow and haven't heard the meet up or print option, unless I missed it. I know in the past, we were able to print the tickets.
