This weekend we have one of our longest standing rivalries. ECS FC Blue plays the Wavebreakers. ECS FC has played the Wavebreakers since their very first season in the GSSL all the way back in 2008. We have played the Wavebreakers 21 times over a 5 year stretch.
In the first 10 meetings we were 1-3-6 with 11 goals for and 41 goals against. It was maddening and it also wasn't just the fact that we couldn't pull out a win, it was the fact that the loss against them normally cost a playoff spot or a title itself. It wasn't that our team was bad for all those seasons, this was just a team that we could not overcome.
Well I'm glad to report that during the next 11 games ECS has gone 7-3-1 with 24 goals for and 12 goals against. While it seems that we have flipped the table on them, each match against the Wavebreakers has a little more passion then the normal GSSL match with such a long and emotional history.
So we invite everyone to come out this weekend and support ECS FC Blue this weekend in their 9 game unbeaten streak against a longtime rival.
