Then you buy players that fit your style. It's not that complicated.

It's not that simple either.

I felt that our boys were against the wall all match last night. there were only a few little spurts of possessions for us, but clearly Tigres had the upper hand. most the match Tigres was in our side of 75-85 percent of the match. we were like 15-25% in their side(mostly the second half). Gspuring must have felt exhausted at the end. tigres challenged him all night. we need to play better than this in the 2nd leg.

Some interesting comments from Sigi, today, concerning Tigres goal.

http://blogs.seattletimes.com/soundersf ... e-counted/
“I think the player drew the attention of the defense and the attention of the goalkeeper, and therefore it should’ve been offside,” the coach answered. “I mean the ball was hit too close to him for him not to be part (of the play) or in that — whatever you want to call it — sphere of influence. He’s in that area. So that’s the way I thought the rule was interpreted. If they’re going to interpret the rule differently, then I think they need to let everybody know — and I think it changes how you defend.”

I don't know what Sigi is talking about, because I though the rule has always been interpreted like the referees did here.

The definitions in the Laws of the Game are pretty clear too. There's no "sphere of influence", so that's something Sigi just made up. There's also nothing about how close to the ball you can be, not directly anyway.

Of course this might just be trying to influence the referees of the next match. Coaches do that frequently. One close call going our way in the second leg might make a huge difference.

Tigres have yet to loose or tie away from home this season. Hope we can reverse the trend...

So it sounds like Tigres is sending mostly reserves to Seattle.

Wow. I guess they are very confident. Fantastic news for us. Some may want to beat their best team, I just want SSFC to win and advance.

Soooooooo bad. Would probably need to save for a possible final as there is no way in hell I would miss that. Plus that way we can try El Rey Del Cabrito to see which is better!

Not much drop off with Tigres second XI. Plus they will be rested and probably coming with something to prove.. .that they should be in the starting XI.

In other words, this isn't any easier than it would have been otherwise, and maybe less so given these players aren't tired from playing 2 additional matches within the last week.

Every time I see mentions of them sending reserves up here, I remember that Herc Gomez was basically considered a substitute when we were up against Santos Laguna last year. It's probably not bad news, but I don't think it's good news either.

Any news that includes Lobos not traveling is good news.
