Yeah, I am so glad the dancing bear plays for us now. And his response to that ref, and our response to him, and the back and forth is just great.

I voted for Frei... Because Frei...

(I reserve the right to change my vote before it closes though, based on the campaigning in this thread)

I forgot we set the poll to allow vote changes every year. I kinda wish it wasn't, just so my gut reaction would still get my vote. At least 3 of you have convinced me to change my vote, but that feels like a slap in the face to Cristian. He's a tough kid though, he'd be OK.

The way he ran up to that ref, stood at attention, and emphatically gave him the thumbs up was such a beautiful "fuck you". I was really expecting a second yellow there and wouldn't have blamed the ref for it at that point.

The fact that we turned that into a great chant for him just is icing on the cake. It's been one of my favorite memories on the pitch this season.

I am curious about the actual deadline for the poll.

It says "Poll runs till Sun Jan 14, 2018 3:07 pm", but I have a feeling that it will be closed much sooner....

Each of my top three choices won the past three years. Not that I think someone can't repeat, but it's good to spread the love. I was between Bruin and Dempsey, then. Went with Dempsey because of his consistent "screw what everyone thinks" attitude and his whole body of work since arriving (also selfishly that it may tilt him toward wanting to still contribute meaningfully to the team next year). Bruin made up a lot of groundion my heart in his one year, though. Gut feeling was Roldan, because it should be Roldan, but.. as above.

I voted. Will Bruin because he is exactly what this award embodies. Also RIP Jon, I'm glad we get a chance ever year to remember you!

RIP Jon. Love and miss you so much.

I'm 99% sure I'm going with either Bruin or Frei. Both have been phenomenal and have shown tons of passion as players.

Roldan Repeat for sure. Dempsey doesn't do it for me off-field. Frei I'd accept. Bruin'd be okay. But it's Roldan for me. Image
