MONKEY MAIL!

Hello Away Travelers!

You are one of 38 or so amazing individuals who will be supporting on our boys this Wednesday from Rio Tinto Stadium. BEAUTIFUL Sandy, Utah awaits us!

Tickets:
Your Real Salt Lake vs Seattle Sounders ticket(s), on Wednesday, August 14, 8:00PM Mountain Time, to stand with the Emerald City Supporters are attached to this email!

Stadium:
Rio Tinto Stadium
9256 State Street
Sandy, UT 84070

Parking:

Parking for visiting supporters at Rio Tinto Stadium will be in Lot #3 (Ardell Brown). There is a cash only fee of $10.00 for parking. The lot opens 3 hours before kickoff so at 5:00 pm. Depending upon the weather and our travels we plan to be at the lot no later than 6:00 pm. North Lot #3 (Ardell Brown) located off the Stadium Road. Access to the North Lot is from 9400 South stadium entrance- you need to take a right onto Stadium road, then continue on Stadium Road as it goes all the way behind the stadium on the westside and then turn left just before State Street (opposite Team Store) and main entrance gate. (Please see attached pdf maps).

Pre-Func:

Parking Lots open at 5:00 pm, we likely plan to be there no later than 6:00 pm. No host tailgate in the parking Lot #3 (Ardell Brown). (See attached maps). Even if you don’t plan to prefunc, you should meet us here no later than 6:45 pm as we march as a group together to the stadium at 7:00 pm.

Gametime (Important Information):

Emerald City Supporters is a supporters group. That's important to remember. Our reason for being at the match is to spur our boys on toward victory; everything else is secondary. Please note that Salt Lake is at a higher altitude. Drinking alcohol and supporting at altitude can and will take a toll on you. Make sure you hydrate with a lot of water. You don’t want to be that person who couldn’t give every ounce of themselves to support. We are here to support our boys and we don’t want anything to take away from your ability to do so.

• Our section is always treated as General Admission, we do not enforce seat assignments. Tifo, capos, the drum, and security will be in the front few rows. Everyone is invited to stand where they feel most comfortable.

• Keep your scarf tied AT ALL TIMES, inside and outside of the stadium.

• Participation is encouraged. We encourage those who know our songs to help lead others. Song Cards can be downloaded ahead of time from our site: https://www.weareecs.com/multimedia/songs Don't worry if you don't know all the words, just follow along the best you can and your support will be felt!

• There may be times where you can't see as well as you might like due to flags and tifo. We like to wave flags. Even during the run of play sometimes. We feel like it's an important part of showing the boys our support, and they are going to need every ounce of strength. If a flag is in your way, and you don't like it - please feel free to change seats. That's part of why we do GA, so you're not stuck in an uncomfortable spot.

• Do not engage in any way with home fans. Security will keep them at bay; there's no need to engage in any wordplay, taunting, threats, etc. If you have an issue, notify ECS travel monkey or stadium staff.

• We understand that for many this may be a vacation in which you meet up with friends and family in the area, and that's great! They are more than welcome to stand with us, as long as they do not display the colors and gear of the home team. Our section is the away section, and stadium security may mistake your friend or family member for an instigator and no one wants that.

• FRIENDS OR FAMILY IN OTHER MLS TEAM GEAR OR COLORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAND WITH US. Section 233/234 of Rio Tinto stadium is designated for supporters of Seattle Sounders FC. This match has big implications, and it is very, very important to those who have traveled to be here. Passions will be running high. If you or someone in your group is wearing colors of another M LS team, they will be asked to remove those items. If they refuse, we will try to have your group reseated. If stadium staff cannot accommodate a reseating, then your group will be asked to leave.
AGAIN, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN OUR SECTION, AND WE DON’T CARE HOW IT WORKS IN OTHER AMERICAN SPORTS. WE NEGOTIATED THIS GROUP RATE, WE ORGANIZED THIS TRIP, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE FOR ANY REASON. -yes, we’re pretty serious about this.

Postgame:

The MLS established procedure for those holding away supporter tickets is to remain in our section for up to 20 minutes while the home fans are cleared from the concourses. When the match ends, we ask that you scoot to the interior of our section as to avoid any contact with home fans. We remain until stadium security gives us the instruction to leave, and then we all leave together.

Just booked airfare and Air BnB this morning because this winter weather is getting me down. Psyched to support the boys in August!

I was wondering if anyone knows if my "Love of 3 Fallen Trees to the SW" Shirt will be allowed at Rio Tinto Stadium? As well as other stadiums

My understanding is that MLS isn’t taking issue with individual clothing choices, as odd and arbitrary a distinction as that seems to be. (almost like the whole policy is totally incoherent!)
